Unbound by Time
The betrayed wife, the traumatized teen, the vengeful brother, the grieving parent, and the regretful alcoholic, each so inescapably bound to their past that they struggle to endure the present or embrace the future.
The drug addict, the adrenaline junkie, the porn addict, the depressed mom, and the couch potato, each so enamored or burdened by the present that they neither remember the lessons of the past nor consider future consequences or rewards.
The workaholic dad, the spouse pursuing an inappropriate relationship, the mother-to-be having anxiety attacks, and the obsessed entrepreneur, each so hyper-focused on the future that they struggle to be fully present with anyone, and they may have all but forgotten from where they came.
One of the truest measures of emotional and relational health is one’s ability to think fluidly through the three dimensions of time. So much of ministering to hurting people is the slow, careful, but intentional, expansion of their perspectives.
Confidence is built on the past. Presence is valued in the moment. Hope exists in the future. As we expand our perspectives we most often find our rock where past, present, and future overlap. He waits for us there.
God is not bound by time. His perspective will not be found bound in only the past, present, or future. Instead, our joy and strength are found as we look beyond the dimension of time that binds us to the one unbound by time.
