Who Knew?
Who knew, as she was choosing those beautiful bathroom tiles, that the night would come when she would choose their cool surface over the satin sheets of her mahogany bed?
Who knew such a putrid scent would completely overwhelm Chanel no.5?
Who knew, just a year after building their dream house overlooking deep water, that he would leave with a woman half her age?
Who knew her body would wage such a violent rebellion against stress, fear, chips and salsa, cheap tequila, and a bottle of wine?
Who knew a gorgeous house filled with luxuries could be so desperately lonely?
Who knew so much could feel like so little?
Who knew that the neighborhood teetotaler, who always went to church, would fluently speak the language of care and compassion without judgement?
Who knew that a group of people gathering just to eat, love one another, and discuss the Bible would be so accepting and encouraging?
Who knew an irreligious person could learn to worship, and enjoy doing so?
Who knew she could find rest and sleep through the night without pills and wine?
Who knew that Jesus would walk right into the firestorm of her life?
Who knew she’d trust him and find real joy and peace for the first time in her life?
Who knew?
“He stoops to look down on heaven and on earth. He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, even the princes of his own people!” Psalm 113:6-8
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. John 3:16
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.” Romans 8:1-2
